No stranger to the music industry, Dion Jenkins, professionally known as Deion (Dion) has served as the go to singer and songwriter for the industry’s top talent. Dion’s unforgettable collaborations and features have resulted in over 10 million albums sold worldwide with contributions to 50 Cent’s The Massacre (Ryder Music), The Game’s debut The Documentary (Runnin’) & Sophomore follow up Doctor’s Advocate (Ol’ English), and extensive work with Hip Hop producer Hi-Tek. Aside from these accomplishments it was the Hip Hop classic “Let it Go” featuring Talib Kweli that cemented Dion’s place in Hip Hop’s elite class of singers that could only be rivaled by Nate Dogg. In similar fashion It was Dion’s vocal abilities and songwriting that soon garnered the attention of iconic West Coast producer Dr. Dre resulting in him inking a solo artist deal with Aftermath Entertainment.
With a body of work that backs up the mere drive and determination it takes an artist to succeed only Dion could fill the void that is seen in today’s lack of soul in R&B. What sets Dion apart from every other singer in his field is his unique 4 part harmony, uncanny knack for songwriting and lyricism, all combined with a vocal quality eerily similar to Marvin Gaye while under the influence of world renown R&B Soul and Funk artists, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Michael Jackson, Joe, and Parliament to name a few.
Lost in the shuffle of label politics, Dion has returned from an extended hiatus and has recently released the single Hold On produced by Atlanta’s own Floyd the Locsmif. Be on the lookout for additional releases of the live band backed Grounded and Messy, and the awe inspiring acapella Heartbreaker on his soon to be released Time Wasted EP, it is without any doubt that Dion’s past has singlehandedly shown that he is the future and is ready to solidify his spot in the return of soulful R&B.
